With so many wonderful options it was hard to decide where to call home. On the one hand, you have the gorgeous turquoise waters, white-sand beaches, and swaying palm trees of the islands, or cayes as they’re called in Belize.
On the other hand, you have the rainforest, rivers and ruins of the Cayo area in the west. If you like the water but don’t want to live on an island, you’ve got coastal towns like Corozal, Placencia or Hopkins, or you can live in the middle of nowhere in Orange Walk, or off the Hummingbird Highway…

A couple years ago my father was diagnosed with Lupus, I saw how he was living by taking so much medication daily and from a strict diet and that has inspired me to someday be a herbalist and our forests are very important for me to achieve this. In order to do this, one must go into the forest and collect samples of different vegetation that are out there and bring them back to the lab for future studies. Someday I plan to play a big part in finding the cure for diseases that are affecting our society like HIV, cancer, lupus and other diseases that don’t yet have a cure.

At 5 PM on a weary Sunday night, I sit still with my head rested on my hand. I close my eyes and think back 3 years ago. I was camping in the middle of the Grand Canyon. I lay still in my tent staring at the sky. Thousands of stars look down on me, satellites circle my vision. I feel the happiest I have ever felt; full of life and excitement. I can’t wait for the next day. I close …

I would like to visit a Belize rain forest for a once -in-a-lifetime opportunity to see nature up close and learn about the lush variety of plants and animals that still live in their natural habitat before they are lost – just the way the diversity of life has been lost where I live. The diversity is greater, the colors are brighter and more exotic in Belize, with rare tropical birds and lush native flowers. The Mayans that lived in Belize long ago have left archaeological treasures that I would love to explore and learn about. A trip to Belize would be an experience I will always remember, especially if I get to see the Great Blue Hole.

The days were heavenly and the nights just magical. By the time we had to say goodbye we were like two teenagers in love again, and arrived back home refreshed and feeling able to cruise through the rest of the winter. Our friends all commented on our tans and how happy we looked (our new expertise at making mango daiquiris no doubt adding to their enthusiasm) and I’ll always be grateful for that night we decided to try Belize. To steal a line from the movie Casa Blanca, this is the start of a beautiful relationship, and a major addition to ours.

Between technology and the city lifestyle we feel at times disconnected . We would love to enjoy the peaceful bliss of the spa above the Macal River or relaxing in the comfort of a magnificent Jungle Lodge. Sharing photos with my friends of your beautiful place has indeed made them think that one needs to stop and live vicariously at least once.

I enjoy having adventures, especially with my fiancé along side me. Belize embodies that sprit from its vast rainforests, to the Mayan Ruins, to world class diving and cave exploring. And coming from upstate New York where 85 degrees is considered a heat wave, I can’t wait to experience is the sunny hot days that Belize has to offer. The Belizean coast is a place I could see spending an entire afternoon, just sitting on the beach with uninterrupted ocean in front of us and a rainforest behind us.

My problem, although not really a problem, would be how to fit in everything I want to see and do in the time that I have. The medicinal trail, creatures of the night, Mountain Pine Ridge, ATM, morning birding, horseback, Tikal overnight, natural history center, butterfly farm, canoe, biking are just a few of the things on my must do list! Uh-oh, I might have to make a 2nd trip, or 3rd .

Last spring break I went on an alternative spring break trip to San Ignacio, Belize with twelve other members from my school for a writing class. We came and volunteered at ProWorld for two weeks. The experience I had in those two weeks put my college years to shame. It’s different going from hopping from party to party to hopping from waterfall to river to Mayan ruin. I can tell you one thing for sure, sitting on top of Xunantunich was the most I’ve ever felt alive. An emotional void had been filled in me, and I knew that’s where my heart would reside.

Belize is my favorite place in the whole world! My love affair with Belize began when my brother-in-law got married and they chose Ambergris Caye as the place they wanted to have their wedding. Needless to say, with the white sand beaches and beautiful deep blue waters, their wedding was picture perfect and provided us with some gorgeous photos and wonderful memories.

A trip to Belize with a stay at the The Lodge at Chaa creek would be a dream vacation for my wife and I. We are seriously involved in bird education and rescue and going to Belize would give us an opportunity to see parrots and other birds in their natural habitat. Staying at one of the most highly regarded and awarded Belizean eco resorts would be a dream come true. We have researched such vacations extensively and so far have been unable to afford one, although we have a plan in place to pay off our debt and take such a vacation in a few years.

Chaa Creek was the very first business that I started following on Facebook when I joined a few years ago, and it is the only business whose posts I read regularly. I’ve never been to Belize, but have been dreaming of it for years … literally years. The pictures I’ve seen of the beaches and the reef in Belize look to me to be the best in the world. And to have that along with those amazing rainforests is almost unimaginable for such a small country. I’m also fascinated by the ancient history and ruins in Belize. I cannot imagine a better place to start my first ever (but hopefully not last) adventure in Belize than the fabulous Chaa Creek.

Rich and I have been together 3 years and have yet to experience an international adventure together. We planned on making 2009 our first Holiday away from home. After weeks of indecision, I began to think this may not be the year for our adventure. Then, I received a text message from Rich that simply stated,” I have decided we are going to Belize“. Without hesitation, the endless research and planning …
