SUNDAY July 31, 2011 – This morning began like the seven before it as 24 sleepy headed eco-campers rallied to the 6:30 wakeup call and gathered round the fire hearth to commence their daybreak muster of liven up songs before breakfast.

FRIDAY July 29, 2011 – Today’s theme for the day was Responsible Tourism and Chaa Creek managers all participated in giving the eco kids a little lecture on the lodge’s ecotourism model and why responsible tourism is such an important feature for Belize.

It’s a great idea to be environmentally responsible.

Most recently I joined the Sustainability Committee at work so I asked myself why not think sustainably while I’m on Vacation too? Preserving that which has not yet been lost. Your “Carbon Footprint” can be reduced by thinking and going green so it’s a great idea to be environmentally responsible. After all we are the only solution to our problems.

Belize is clearly a culturally and ecologically rich country

I am definitely interested in the Mayan culture of Belize, but my true interest lies in the natural environments it has to offer. My bookshelves are filled with animal books, including both local and foreign (to me). Many of these animals I have only seen in books and on television.
